About Illinois6HourCourse.com
What Illinois6HourCourse.com is
Illinois6HourCourse.com is an independent aggregator that explains the Illinois Secretary of State's adult driver education requirement for first-time license applicants ages 18-20, and compares the SOS-certified or roster-confirmed providers it has checked against public sources; it does not teach, deliver, or sell the course itself. We publish the requirement in plain language, keep a provider and price comparison current, and link out to providers so a reader can enroll directly with them.
What Illinois6HourCourse.com is not
Illinois6HourCourse.com is not the Illinois Secretary of State, is not a government agency, and does not certify providers or issue the completion record this site describes. We are not DriversEd.com, Top Driver, Pass Drivers Ed, or Drivers Education of America, the four providers listed on Illinois SOS-Certified Adult Driver Education Providers; we do not operate a course, and enrolling through one of our links means enrolling directly with that provider under that provider's own terms.
Illinois6HourCourse.com may earn a commission on one provider link (DriversEd.com). See Affiliate Disclosure for the full statement; we do not hide this, and it does not change the requirement information this site publishes.
Who verifies the content on this site
Every regulator fact on this site - the 6-hour requirement, the statute and rule citations, and which providers appear in our comparison - is checked against the Illinois Secretary of State's own published rules or a previously confirmed public source before it is published. Every source used is dated, and every dated source appears in the ## Sources table at the bottom of the page that cites it. Facts we cannot source this way are marked as unverified and are never presented as confirmed.
The Illinois SOS publishes its own official provider roster as a plain HTML table listing roughly 60 certified providers statewide; all four providers named on this site appear on it. That roster lists company name, website, course type, and phone number, not certification numbers, so a certification number posted on a provider's own site still cannot be checked at the record level. We say so plainly on Illinois SOS-Certified Adult Driver Education Providers rather than presenting our provider list as the SOS's own full roster.
How often this site is reviewed
Every page carries a "last verified" and "next review" date in its own metadata, and the default review cycle is every six months unless a specific Illinois statute, rule, or provider price changes sooner, in which case the affected page is updated right away and its dates change accordingly.
